2020 Virtual Conference
MAEN will be hosting a virtual conference throughout the 2020-2021 school year. We will kick things off with our annual MAEN Business Meeting which we usually hold on the second day of the conference. The MAEN Business Meeting will take place on August 11, 2020. At this meeting we will announce new officers to the MAEN Board of Directors along with the new Board of Directors and Regional Representatives. We will also have a Zoom Meeting featuring Dale Wimer of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Dale along with Shelly Lamb administer the Missouri Options Program. We will also hear from Amy Hill-LCWS with Burrell addressing the needs of our students during this pandemic.
The virtual Conference Hub is where the 2020 Business Meeting and the 2020 Virtual Conference Webinars will be housed.
2020 In Person Conference at the Lodge of the Four Seasons Canceled
It is with great sadness and disappointment we share that the Board of Directors voted to cancel our annual MAEN Conference for July 19-21, 2020. Due to changing timelines with our current health crisis and school calendars, we felt it was in the best interest of our membership to not meet this year. We recognize the importance of our yearly conference for more than just the professional development it provides. For so many of us, it is the one place we feel connected and can rest assured that everyone around us "gets it." Isolation is not a new feeling to most of us in alternative education but that doesn't make this time in our school history any less daunting or challenging. We want YOU, each of our members, to know that we are here and aren't going anywhere!
For those that have already registered, THANK YOU! We appreciate your eagerness and are sorry not to see you this year. To those that have sent payment, please know we will be refunding fees this week. To all of our members that submitted presentation proposals, please know we are disappointed not to hear from you this year but very much look forward to you re-submitting and presenting next year. To all our members, thank you for supporting our organization.
Despite the cancellation of the conference, we are still here for you! We are currently researching avenues for alternative ways to deliver professional development and opportunity for community. We are after all, alternative education! If you have suggestions or ideas to share on how to help us with this, please reach out to your Regional Representatives and/or your Regional Director. We look forward to navigating this new territory as a team!
